State of the Nation is a company founded by Romy Stander.
Partners Octavia Khumalo, Tebogho Lehlabi and Benedicte Kurzen have since joined, forming a team that covers a broad skill set with both creative and business acumen.

We are based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

State of the Nation was created to forge a relationship between craft and contemporary design. We maintain a strong ethnic design policy while exploring new and innovative creative possibilities.

Our aim is to create jobs but is also about skill sharing towards empowering the women we are working with, helping them to form their own sustainable structures.
